How do I eliminate a loud humming sound coming from my speakers while using Windows Media Player?

Try opening your Volume Control and mute all audio inputs you currently are NOT using.

    Click Start and go to All Programs

    Go to Accessories, and then to Entertainment

    Select Volume Control from the dropdown menu

    Select the Mute box for each audio input you are not using.
